Heather – Founder/Owner

After a successful career in commercial photography, primarily within the corporate sector, Heather founded SacTown Bites in 2019, seeking a slower pace of life and a deeper connection with the local community through food. A passionate advocate for the culinary scene in Sacramento, Heather is dedicated to highlighting both the region's diverse food culture and the artisans behind it. To share this passion, Heather launched a variety of unique food tours, including street food and mural explorations, wine and cider tastings, lavender farm visits, and exclusive chef’s menu experiences. With a strong foundation in photography and management, Heather is excited about the future growth and impact of this small but thriving business.

Mariah – Guide

Mariah Houston is a Sacramento native who has deep roots with its thriving and diverse food scene. Growing up her parents introduced her to cultural foods and events that she thought was the norm. However, going to school in the south, she soon realized just how much of a foodie Mecca Sacramento was. Her newly revitalized curiosity surrounding all things food and drink has been fueled by her love for the food side of social media and her world travels. As a new-ish vegetarian, she has also enjoyed rediscovering new foods at some old favorites. Mariah’s day job as an English teacher and her love for culinary adventures made her excited about joining the team here at SacTown Bites. Of course, one of Mariah’s favorite things to do is try new restaurants and recipes with her family and friends. She also enjoys hiking and spending time with her two adorable fur kids.

Samantha – Guide

Samantha is a Sacramento super fan who enjoys exploring the region for the best food, wine, cocktails, and vibes. She has called the Sacramento region home for over 10 years and is dedicated to showing off all that Sacramento has to offer. Food and nutrition, in particular, draw her attention the most. In her day job, Samantha works with nutrition educators across the state of California to harness the agricultural magic of their region for effective and resourceful education opportunities. In her off time, you might find Samantha walking a foster dog, drinking a white linen on a patio, or at one of the many glorious book shops Sacramento has to offer.
Don - Guide

Don - Guide

A Montana transplant with stamps from forty-some countries in his passport, Don is a professional speechwriter who brings a storyteller's instinct to every tour. He's drawn to the details most people walk past—the architectural quirks of an old building, the immigrant family who quietly shaped a neighborhood's cuisine, the strange-but-true history hiding behind a familiar storefront. (Ask him about Porto if you have time; he'll happily make the case that it's the most beautiful city in the world.) Since settling in Davis, Don has thrown himself into the Sacramento region's food scene with the zeal of a recent convert. When he isn't leading tours, drafting speeches, or chipping away at his first novel, you'll likely find him hunting down the perfect slice of pizza, not quite lost on a road trip, or enjoying a sprawling work of literary fiction.
